Is anybody going to the opening reception tomorrow? (Jan 29, 7:30pm)

Re: Bon Soo Art Show?
If I do I will have to bring my daughter. I couldn't find a sitter for her.
It actually probably wouldn't be a terrible idea, I think she'd enjoy it.

Re: Bon Soo Art Show?
Well as you can probably tell I didn't get anything in, just no time to put something together and get it down there (excuses excuses).
Congrats to those who had works accepted. Also don't be discouraged on anything that was turned away - and I want to stress this point. The judging of this is totally subjective and based off of one or two people's opinion of the shot. This doesn't mean whatever you submitted and had turned away is not any good. It may be even better than some of the works that were submitted but wasn't in the judges "likes".
I'll try to swing by one of these days to check the stuff out.

Emmi would probably like it. I can probably go. Last year I went to the opening reception and nobody was there! Everyone was outside looking at the fireworks display that occurred at the same time. I had the entire art gallery to myself.

I'm not sure yet. For some reason I thought it was on Friday and has resigned myself to the fact that I was working. Hmmm.

Luckily they smartened up this year and made this event separate from the opening ceremonies. Hope to see you there.

Both my pieces got accepted, very excited about that-totally wasn't expecting anyone to like them. I'm hoping to be there tommorrow night, my grandmother wants to see them. Congrats to everyone!!

Which ones were yours, Panda?
It was a pretty small show and I was surprised there wasn't more photos. It was nice seeing stuff that I've only seen on this forum or on Flickr up on the walls framed. I was the guy chasing after my 3 year-old the whole time

I had a nice time. Always enjoy seeing Ken and his daughter Emmi. I think Emmi took a photo of yours truly with his IIIf. I also met Panda and Lizzardskills for the first time. Hope to meet again soon.

I had a chance to meet Nando too. No one else. I thought that was you Ken...because of your beautiful little daughter. I was just the shy girl in the corner. lol.
Awesome to see our stuff on the walls. I too was shocked at how few enteries there really were.
And I thought last year there were awards, introductions, etc. What happened to that?!

Well my daughter got to meet a lot of people, even if I didn't
"Hi, what's your name? Why are you here? My Daddy has a picture on the wall" x 100

Re: Bon Soo Art Show?
Sounds like it ends up being different every year - it'd be awesome if they could possibly streamline this and get it consistent every year?
I did it 2007, tonnes of work on the walls, tonnes of sculptures etc but no awards and just a brief "thanks for the submissions" thing at the opening night. Also nothing about putting a price on your work.
Sounds like last year (and I believe I remember it to) they had awards and other such things.
This year it sounds like the turnout wasn't all that great - I only heard about it on here and no where else - lack of advertising for it? And if the awards are gone that's a shame. Even though they are just token pieces it is still cool to see.

Ooops, I got the usernames mixed up! I met VTML and not Lizzardskills. Sorry.
Last year, the place was deserted when I showed up. Did I enter into the twilight zone? I'm thinking that I might have gone on the wrong day.
