Fair enough. It's just a good way to get your name out. It's not going in the Louvre or anything. Considering you're doing paid work I think it's a good idea to get cheap $5 publicity but suit yourself.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I was actually in it 2 years ago I believe - the shots are still on my wall. They only thing I can think of printing and submitting would be Egypt stuff but those are just fun vacation photos really.

I wouldn't say guilt.. more like a gentle kick in the a**

There won't be any 8x12's at Zellers. I'll have to reprint to something like 6x9 and it will will look awkward in an 8x10 frame. Don't really have much time tonight to get frames and reprint. What photos should I enter?

Well, just to follow up. I decided not to enter anything this year. It will be too much of a rush for me to prepare anything that I would be suitable for display. I probably would not be happy with the result, especially in a frame not suitable for the 3:2 ratio.

Never understood why, in North America, frame sizes are predominately matched to standard large-format film sizes (8x10, 5x7, 4x5) when the predominant format used in photography since WWII has been 35mm (3x2 ratio). I wouldn't have a problem finding 8x12 frames in Europe.

I considered a few photos. After talking to a friend this afternoon, we both concluded that I don't really have anything that could stand well on its own. For the last two years, I've been concentrating on photographing in series.

I'll be prepared for next year's exhibition.

I totally agree with you Nando on how bunk it is to try to find 8x12 frames. They look at you like you're speaking in some weird tongue as well when you ask if they stock it.

I've resorted to buying frame that are 16x20 and had custom mattes made so the 8x12 looks studly inside them.

I buy 16x20 frames too. As it turns out, a matte with an 8x12 cut-out will give a perfect 4" border all around. I ordered 16x20 frames with pre-cut mattes from Vistek before Christmas and every frame arrived with cracked glass. I sent them back 3 weeks ago but the replacements haven't arrived yet. If I had those frames, I could have submitted photos I already had printed.

We actually stock 8x12" frames at Camera Craft, but they are just that... a frame with no matte.

I noticed on the BONSOO entry forms, that we can write the selling price for our "art"... Is it ok to write N/A?

I'm sure it is. "Not for sale" or "private collection".

"Private collection" sounds fancy...
