Photo Meet-Up Thursday (Done)
I thought I would take the lead on this because no one else is. This Thursday at 6:00 PM I will be sipping lattes at the Arcadia Coffee House on Queen East. If you're free and want to sit down and talk photography I'd love to have you. Bring your camera, bring your laptop or photo album and enjoy some good company and free wi-fi.
If Thursday isn't good for you don't worry, we'll have lots more of these.
So... who's coming?

I would love to go but my husband has plans that night to go play hockey so I'm busy at home with our 2 children.

Re: Photo Meet-Up Thursday (Done)
Friday is a P.D. day and I will be conducting a workshop for teachers. I may or may not be able to attend. It all depends if I have enough time to prepare for Friday's workshop. Unfortunately, I have to do all the preparations on my own time. Friday evening would probably work better for me as I also plan on attending that reception at the Art Gallery.

I should rename this thread "the reason I can't come to the Photo meetup this Thursday"
Re: Photo Meet-Up Thursday (Done)
I might be able to make it, I just have to check and make sure nothing is going on first......

That would be great. Thursday is best for me because the Bon Soo events start up Friday and I'll be busy shooting those all week.
From my experience you'll never get everyone at the table at the same time. You just have to set a date and hope people show up. There is nothing stopping anyone from setting up their own dates.

Ok, I'll be there. I think that I can free up some time tomorrow afternoon to prepare for that workshop I'll be doing on Friday. What would you like me to bring?

I'd love to sit down with you two, but I have a fundraising dinner to go to that night. Like Ken, I'll be at all the Bon Soo events, so my week will be tied up.
Ken, we should meet up at Bon Soo.. I take it you're covering for SooNews? Send me a Flickr mail.

I am in the same boat as Nando in some regards. I would love to go to a meet, but time is tight at the moment.

Kenneth,
Are you still planning on going? I'll be there. I invited a friend of mine to join us. He's also a photographer but not a member of the forum.

I'll be there... as to what you should bring... anything you want. The Leicas might make me jealous, I'd love to see your Bessa sometime.
Re: Photo Meet-Up Thursday (Done)
Arcadia Coffee House is in that old building besides the Old Stone House with a record store right? I've never been to this coffee house before. Are you sure it will be open after 6? Some places close down earlier now. I'll bring the Bessa and a few other toys.

That's OK, I wouldn't mind just sitting down with Nando and his friend. Where are you taking your wife to celebrate?

Re: Photo Meet-Up Thursday (Done)
It was a good meet-up. I think Arcadia is a good venue for just sitting and having good conversation.
I had thought my next camera would be a Bessa as a gateway to a Leica but it's pretty clear to me that I should just save up and get a Leica.
The first money to put towards it will be the money I saved by not calling a tow truck tonight when I locked myself out of my car

Yes, it was a good meeting. Arcadia has a nice atmosphere. I very much enjoyed our conversations.
I agree with your thoughts concerning your next camera purchase. Although my Voigtlander introduced me to rangefinders and remains a very fun camera to use, if I were to do it all over again, I'd get a used Leica M first. When one considers the price of a brand new Bessa body, a used Leica won't seem that expensive given the much higher level of quality. However, I wouldn't hesitate on getting a Voigtlander lens. In terms of build quality and optics, they are just a few steps behind the current Leica and Zeiss offerings. I also want to say that I was mistaken about the M6 - all M6's have meters. However, later "M6 TTL" have TTL meters while the earlier "M6 Classic" just has a conventional meter.
I look forward to the next meeting. Hopefully more people can make it the next time out.

I would have loved to make it. but we are at turn around, and boy, the school is a unorganized disaster this time around. I even got a few calls from other staff members concerning markbook at home last night. That snow day sure did wreak havoc with exams.
