Re: Challenge: Midway
Some taken with the Arax:
w/ Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm f/4 Flektogon
the rest w/ Carl Zeiss Jena 80mm f/2.8 Biometar
I'm not happy with the last one.. I'll post more later.
EDIT: I'm experiencing some weird colour-shifts when saving to JPEG in Photoshop. I'm not sure what's going on at the moment. These photos are appearing darker than they should be.

Re: Challenge: Midway
Now that I am more settled I should scan my slides, considering this WAS my challenge
Bumble-Bee Bop is my daughter's favorite ride
I'll have some B&W from the Rotaryfest rides back in a week or two as well

Re: Challenge: Midway
I never did make it to the Midway this year, but I was at Rotaryfest long enough for my wife to get her cotton candy. I managed to get a few shots during the short time we were there. All were taken with Nikon D80 and Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens.
Scooter:
Candy Floss (AKA Cotton Candy):
Prizes:
These were really more snapshots than anything, as I really didn't have much time to really plan them out. They were all cropped for better framing, and slight exposure and brightness adjustments done in Adobe Lightroom.

Re: Challenge: Midway
Nando, Just wanted to say that I really like the photo of the teddy bear you posted.

Re: Challenge: Midway
Didn't have an evil tripod for the cliche long exposures so I did a cliche bokeh shot instead. This is the Zeiss 80mm f/2.8 Biometar.

Re: Challenge: Midway
Nando, I'm also a big fan of the teddy bear shot. I also like the first one you posted in that group.
Are those both straight scans?
I also spent a good bit of time looking at the Scooter shot of BJ's.
This last one of Nando's almost gives me that freaky dream feeling. I'm a bit undecided. I think I like it though.

Re: Challenge: Midway
I did do some post processing in 1 and 2. I darkened the sky in #1 and I added some vignetting in #2 to put emphasize the teddy bear a bit. I'm not sure if I did anything for #3 but if I did, it wasn't much. #4 is a straight scan.

Re: Challenge: Midway
Did it take me long enough?
I wasn't happy with the original scans I was getting from the slides but now I have a lot more information to play with.

Re: Challenge: Midway
I love the last shot Ken. The action part of the photo is dark, so it makes the "true" subject of the photo that dude in the back having a smoke. I love the redirection.
Re: Challenge: Midway
Thanks Mike, I liked it too but it never scanned right on my flatbed. I put it in a dedicated slide scanner at work and it came out much better.
