Normally, magazines, newspapers and advertisers are largely criticized for altering photographs of women with Photoshop to conform to what constitute 'beauty' these days. However, Fox News is criticizing Newsweek for NOT altering their photograph of American Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin. The headline reads "She's one of the folks and that's the problem." yet Fox News were more concern over her wrinkles, pores and facial hair in the photo. Regardless of political affiliations, I think most people would agree that Sarah Palin is an attractive woman and wouldn't have anything to worry about when it comes to 'looks'.

PDN (Photo District News) has a video of the Fox News segment.

Here's a blog entry from The Online Photographer about this. (I like the featured comment. Very Happy )

Perhaps Newsweek should alter the photograph the same way Fox News altered the photograph of respected New York Times reporter (or "Attack Dog" to Fox News) Jacques Steinberg. I'm sure that if Newsweek took Palin's photo and elongated her head, enlarged her nose and ears, and yellowed her teeth, Fox News wouldn't complain.
