Jack O' Lantern in March and other pointless shooting
Tonight I went out for no good reason other than to play with my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 now that I've decided to keep it. There is some banding in these because my 1D is a 7 year-old camera that sucks in low-light. I don't usually use it at night but I was just shooting for fun so I didn't care. All with the Sigma, all wide open at or around f/1.4. I could have stopped it down for some but again I was just having some fun.

Very cool shots Kenneth. I don't know if it's because I work there or not, but I really like the one of Algoma Steel. It's neat seeing different views of it, especially at night.

Nice shots Ken. That second one looks like a good starting point for a series if it interests you enough.
Great original shot of the plant too. That lens looks fun.

Very nice photos. It somewhat reminds me of the industrial and city-scape photography of Jann Dale (aka JannX on RFF - the one who liked the Victor Mann building when he visited the Soo - Jan's Blog). I think that this city is very good for this type of photography.

Thanks. I want to go back and take that steelpant shot again with a tripod stopped down a bit.

I'd been looking at that one a few times. The beams in the foreground seem distracting. Not in a composition way, but tonally. I couldn't figure out if they could use some stopping down to get them black.(though losing some of the glow from the plant and sky) or should be illuminated a bit more. Maybe with some cross flash. If you had a long cable release or a remote flash trigger of some type, you could maybe add some texture to them.
Hope that helps.

Yah that's a great point. That yellow tube in the foreground pisses me off, too.
Thanks for the advice.
