Due to the rapid urbanization process, big cites are facing many difficult problems, one of the most important being that of solid waste disposal.  The indiscriminate and unscientific disposal of wastes created all sorts of pollution, viz., land, air and water.  The impact of solid waste disposal is severe, for all who are directly or indirectly exposed to the landfill site.

The situation is becoming alarming day-by-day because of limited space available for different purposes.  Neither the waste generation can be stopped completely nor can the available space be increased.  The solution lies in the proper management and impact assessment of the landfill sites.

Simultaneously, wastewater management is a serous problem in the major cities of the country.  When considering the sewage generation, Mumbai generates 2400 million litres per day (mld) but only 1800 mld get some kind of primary treatment.  Chennai generates 276 mld and only 173 mld is properly treated.  Delhi generates 2628 mld and only about 1556 mld is being treated.  Thus, recycling and reusing effluents are one of the options in controlling pollution of fresh water sources due to wastewater discharge.  Although recycling and reuse of municipal water is not a new concept it is seldom seriously considered in the process of planning for future urban water demands.

When investing in an Apartment Kochi is the hot favorite for a vast majority of investors, but when intending to call it a home, you need to consider many factors.  Already the civic authorities are finding it difficult to manage the urban wastes that are being generated each year.  When a huge apartment complex is coming up in a particular area, more waste will be generated.  Always see if the builder is able to put in place the right infrastructure to manage these wastes.  Only then consider an investment into such an apartment.
