Xperimental Empty Xperimental

Post by crowellphotographs Fri Sep 26, 2008 2:16 pm

Well, I just developed the first roll of film thru my Hasselblad. I really wanted to take a quick look at these negs(i'm getting a little rusty at reading a negative image and imagining it as a positive) i decided to try something weird.

Here's the results. The original negs themselves are perfect, but I'm really starting to like how these turned out. Looks like something that may be worth shooting a series. I showed these to Ken already but I'd love to hear some opinions as it's a big stretch from the regular stuff I do.

(Note: the color and contrast are slightly different in photoshop. Not much, but worth mentioning.)

You didn't show me the self-portrait... I think that one is my favorite. These have such a dreamy quality to them.

My Epson scanner does medium format if you want to try it but after using that 35mm slide scanner at work it's hard to go back.

I find these interesting. I realize that the negs are good but it reminds me of some images I saw recently made from film developed in Caffenol.

The scanner totally adds a new dimension to these photos. They are soft and dreamy but there's also more detail in the centre of the shot and those two elements play off each other. It would be really interesting to see them cropped and straightened.
