With the new 50mm f/1.8 I presume. Perhaps I'm not used to the crop-factor but it seems that the shot was taken very close to the minimum focusing distance.

This shot was taken from lets say 4 ft , also did not crop the pic...
Just center focused..
Perhaps it may be to close with that lens, just playing around i guess.

No, nothing wrong here. It's just me. To me it looks like a shot taken with something like a 85-90mm lens - I'm just not used to the crop factors in digital cameras.

With the crop it's pretty close to what you're used to, I believe the Nikon crop factor is 1.5 so her 50 is acting like a 75mm, Canon's have crops of 1.6 (20,30,40Ds) and 1.3 (1D series, also a full frame in there) and the 5Ds are full frames. My 50 acts as an 80 but I'm used to it now -- looking at getting a 30 though for the 50 range (it's a funny game to play).

As far as the cat pic goes, love his expression. Animals are a pain in the butt to get shots of as they are either terrified of the camera, want nothing to do with the camera or are curious of the camera and come and lick the lens.

Cats are definitely characters, and are always fun to photograph (or try to photograph) Taking pictures of my cat is almost impossible. He has related the sounds of the camera to playing games, due to the little sunlight reflections off the lens, and just won't sit still Smile
